Welcome to the first in the series of blog posts from our learners who are undertaking the Train to Work FETAC programme.  This course is being run for unemployed 18-25 years in Waterford, Wexford, Dungarvan and Carrick on Suir.   In the first entry, we hear from a learner about why decided to join this course and his hopes for the future.

I signed up for this course myself after I was made aware of it by a friend. I came down to the open day which was organised by New Links Training Solutions and I signed up that day.    I knew this course was for me.

Since the start of this course, I have learned many things including social studies, customer service, communications, sports and recreation.  The whole group has passed first aid which is a good as I have a certificate for future opportunities.   There is still a lot for us to learn and a lot of work to be done by us all but I look forward to it and excited about is coming my way with assignment challenges.   I am also getting good insights from work experience and the work involved in running a shop as well as developing my customer service skills.

I hope and will continue to try and better myself on this course and I will also work hard during my work experience.  I hope to be able to  get a full time job or perhaps on to college once this course has finished.
